Goose Island Stillness

Painting inspired by Driftless Area, Recent Work

A peaceful river winds through green fields and trees under a pale sky with distant hills.

Late September light settles over the backwaters at Goose Island, where the Mississippi slows and the day seems to pause. The greens are fading, the air is clear, and even the smallest movement feels deliberate. I wanted to paint that quiet suspension between seasons, when the world seems to hold its breath before autumn arrives.

All paintings are inspired by actual places in the landscape.
